Today's EXCITING Nature Walk

Well its Friday and even though I saw that there was a 90% chance of rain ALL day long, I was still convinced that we could get our nature walk in! (Besides, statistics in my class have shown, that when you have a nature walk following a couple of worksheets, your worksheet time will be cut in 1/2!)  So, that's what we did.  We wrapped up and headed outdoors to see what we could find this week.  The discovery that seemed to fascinated them most was...
ACORNS!

And even better...

an acorn with bright orange stuff inside!!

As we made our way on the trail around the perimeter of the campus, we reached approximately the furthest point from our classroom when, drip, drop, drip...that's right, it was beginning to rain!  We all started shouting "It's raining!" and running while Greta is saying, "Hold my hand Mrs. Marlita!"

So I held her hand while trying to keep up with the boys.  Then, to add to the excitement, Greta realized that she had ran right out of her shoe...in the rain!

As she runs back from retrieving her shoe, I can't resist the kodak moment!

Thankfully, the rain stopped and we were able to enjoy the outdoors a little longer.
Before we went in they requested that I take some more pictures of them playing together in the pinestraw.  They finally gave up on trying to find Knowlen and decided to take the picture without him!

I just wonder where he could have been!?!?!?
 ;)

YAY for Technology!

Okay, so technology has never really been my thing.  Gadgets and gizmos confuse me more than amaze me.  However, I have found in the last several months that the more I play around with this foreign area, the more I am actually learning to like it.  I began thinking about the importance of our children becoming acquainted with these complex machines and realize that the earlier they start the better!  They are like little sponges right?  Lets just pour it all on while they are absorbing!  So, I requested a computer in our classroom.  When we walked in on Monday morning, voila' !
(Thank you Bubba!)

The kids have been absolutely intrigued and mesmerized!  I never imagined they would be this excited!  They get to play with the mouse, push the buttons and everything!!!  All by themselves!!!

Does it get any better than this? Well...only if we could get about 3 more of these things!

Winter Garden

I have a few pictures that are worth sharing from the K3/K4 winter garden.  The kids have all enjoyed this project so much.  We began by weeding the beds and removing all of the rocks.

We were so thankful for the parents, grandparents, aunts and everyone else who donated items, money and time to help us plant a successful garden in the fall.

We watered, weeded, and several weeks later, harvested veggies.  I was amazed to see how much the kids LOVED the raw vegetables, especially the radishes!

As I am typing this, most of the garden has produced all that it is going to produce. I hope everyone enjoyed the goodies that was sent home periodically.  However, we did check on our brussell sprouts after our nature walk today and we are hoping to get to enjoy some of these next week.

This is the first time I have ever seen brussell sprout plants!  Isn't God AMAZING!!  They look pretty yummy!  We shall see!

We're Going on a Lion Hunt...

Well we really did go on a lion hunt!  You probably all got your lion mask many weeks ago, but since this page is new, I have lots of catching up to do!

Now those are some very vicious lions!

Leaf Collecting

Leaf collecting has always been a favorite of mine.  I loved it when I was a child and I still love it just as much today (maybe even more)!  On one of our Friday nature walks we tried to collect as many different colored and shaped leaves as we could.  We tried to stay on the trail around the campus, but sometimes we were tempted to take on the challenge of the tall grass!

When we got back to the classroom we sorted them by size and then by color.

They were part of our classroom for weeks before I was allowed to throw them away.  Even then I had to sneak and do it!

First day in Pre-K

Welcome to our classroom blog!  I look forward to getting to share what we do every day with you!  Just like our first day in our Pre-K house on September 6, 2011 when everything was new to the five of us, I am new to blogging.  So bear with me and enjoy the ride! :)
1st day
